Homeschool Curriculum That Helps Students Learn Technology Quickly and Easily

Welcome Homeschooling Families! (And Teachers Too!)

First, thank you for taking on the challenge of homeschooling! My hope is that these lessons and activities will make your experience with homeschooling easier while also making it fun for your student.

This curriculum is for high school students interested in graphic design and web design. I made this curriculum and use in my own classes!

If you are new to homeschooling, don’t worry! I make my lessons and activities as student-friendly as possible. Your student will be creating by the end of Lesson 1.

All of the curriculum is available on Teachers Pay Teachers. The links are below, and you can download it right away to get started.

High School Homeschool Graphic Design and Web Design Curriculum

I am adding lessons and activities all the time. Since I am a teacher during the day, I will post new content as soon as I can, especially over the summer ;)!

What Actual Teachers Say:

"I just wanted to let you know that we LOVE your eworkbook.
It is just what we were looking for."
- Happy Teacher
""My high school students love the Illustrator level 1 books. The step-by-step directions are short and illustrated and the practices and fun and relevant to the industry.  I love the books because they teach Illustrator for me!  All I have to do is walk around and watch and them learn Illustrator.""
- Happy Teacher

Get your students creating in the first lesson!

As a full-time teacher, I know students sometimes need step-by-step assistance, especially now during these challenging times. If you are a parent homeschooling your student, or a teacher whose students are working remotely or in-person, I have made these lessons to make learning technology simple and fun. I use these lessons with my own students who enjoy them, and I hope yours will too.

The curriculum has short, simple instructions that have abundant screenshots and guidance. Your student can get started using the basic drawing tools or learning HTML right away in Lesson 1.

I will be adding much more curriculum that uses Google Docs, Google Sheets, and especially Google Slides for the drawing tools. Many graphic design and Information Technology teachers struggle without having the usual Adobe software available for students working remotely. I have discovered that the drawing tools in Google Slides are a great workaround to teach the basics of drawing on the computer. They are also suitable to middle schoolers too.

I hope you find this curriculum useful for your student. I will be posting more as soon as possible. Please reach out if you have questions.

Getting Started Creating Graphics on the Computer

Homeschool Graphic Design Curriculum - Starting Out With Basic Shapes

Drawing in Google Slides ™

Why Should Students Draw in Google Slides?

Google Slides is a free and easy for students to learn to draw on a computer. It’s a great way to get started drawing and to find out about graphic design before investing in Adobe Illustrator.

Students learn about:

  • Basic Shapes
  • Fill Color
  • Border Color
  • Gradients
  • Arranging Objects
  • Alignment
  • and More!

The instructions are easy for students to follow, and they are guided step-by-step with with lots of screenshots.

Creating graphics with the basic shapes in Google Slides helps students begin to look at pictures and take them apart. When I give my students an assignment in Google Slides (or even  in Adobe Illustrator) and I don’t include the instructions, I tell my students to think of the image like it’s a puzzle. What basic shapes are being used to put the puzzle together? That helps them start to strategize about the graphics and then they start problem solving.

Homeschool Web Design Curriculum - Learning to Build a Website with HTML

html Lessons

Students are guided step-by-step in learning HTML with a lot of screenshots and simple instructions. With a free text editor like NotePad, NotePad++, or the TXT app on a Chromebook, students can get started designing a website. (These lessons use NotePad++).

Students can also download Atom for a more advanced HTML editor. It is also free.

These tutorials also walk students through creating actual web pages so they are not only learning, but also producing a finished product. I use them with my own students. I hope your student enjoys them!
